Call it a philosophy, a mission statement, or a list of stuff I believe... these are the principles I use to get long-lasting results for clients. If you have any questions about these ideas, send me an e-mail and I'd be glad to discuss them further. -------------------------------------------------
I believe that when choosing a training plan, there's Good, there's Better, and there's the Best. Any
kind of exercise absolutely beats doing nothing at all, but taking
10,000 steps a day will yield far different results than an
individualized workout plan designed by a competent coach that
addresses strength training, flexibility and injury prevention.
I believe that the more actively involved you are in your fitness plan, the better the results will be. Showing up for a training session and going into mental autopilot isn't what we're after. Find out what you enjoy and do it regularly. Do what you must, but also do what you like.
I believe that the less you blend into the average gym scene, the better off you'll be. Take a look at the average gym member. They tend to settle into ruts and, generally speaking, never seem to get much closer to their goals. Do you want to do what they're doing and be where they are, or do you want to go beyond?
I believe that everybody is an athlete and everybody has a "sport." Golf
or gardening, kickboxing or kayaking, shopping or shotput, playing
poker or parenting. Be in shape for the demands of your daily life.
I believe that a stronger athlete is a better athlete, with very few exceptions. Strength
gained at the expense or trade-off of technique, flexibility, speed or
conditioning is not worth gaining. But improved strength and raw power
gained through specifically planned methods with maximum carryover and application to sport, is always going to be a good investment.
